Race History

Zwerver
(actually Zwerver II) was built in 1956 for W.N.H. van der Vorm. His son, Otto
van der Vorm, was an active and successful regatta sailor. He raced with her
from 1957 to 1975, and many famous sailors joined her Crew: Coolhaas, Van Rietschoten,
and many others. Zwerver already won the first race she entered; The
Holland-Harwich. The Brittania cup was won in 1958, and the North Sea Race in
1960. In 1961 she won the prestigious Fastnet race. In 1965 Zwerver ended
third in the Admiral's Cup. In 1976 the ship was rebuilt to be a chartership.
Being a chartership in Turkey was Zwerver's fate until new ownership steered
her back home in October 1998.
